Who are we?
Incorporated in 1972, Physicians Anesthesia Service is a Seattle public service corporation whose professional employees are physicians in the practice of anesthesiology, perioperative medicine and pain management. With more than sixty physicians, we are the largest group of private practice anesthesiologists in Washington State.
What are our credentials?
Anesthesiology is the practice of medicine. Our members are licensed medical doctors who have also completed residency training in anesthesiology and are certified by The American Board of Anesthesiology as consultants in the specialty. All of our anesthesiologists are trained in the provision of all types of anesthesia and in the delivery of intensive care medicine. A number of our physicians also have obtained further subspecialty training, having completed clinical fellowships in cardiac, pediatric, obstetric and neurosurgical anesthesia, and in the treatment of chronic pain.
All of our physicians are continually engaged in continuing medical education programs, which include participation in the Washington State Society of Anesthesiologists and the American Society of Anesthesiologists, and renew Advanced Cardiac Life Support training every two years.
Whom do we serve?
Our anesthesiologists provide anesthesia care to patients referred to Swedish Medical Center on First Hill and Providence campuses in downtown Seattle, Washington. Because Swedish is a nationally renowned tertiary referral center, our patients come to us from all over the northwestern United States. We also staff several of the freestanding ambulatory surgery centers within the sprawling Swedish Medical Center campus complex.

As active participants in the Seattle medical care community, we are designated as preferred providers with nearly all of the major insurance plans in Washington State. And, of course, we do accept Medicare assignment. We may not have contracts with some of the smaller insurance organizations. If you find that we are not on your plan's list of preferred providers, please call our office for financial assistance.
